I've Been Loving (Watching): Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: in order from left to right - Kim, Lisa, Adrienne, Kyle, Taylor, and Camille.
Now I know what you're thinking -- any show that begins with "Real Housewives of ..." probably isn't a show about "real" or genuine women or their struggles as a housewife -- well I'll have to admit these women are probably just as superficial, materialistic, and attention-seeking as the media portrays them. Yet, despite their heavy make up, botox-ed face, surgically enhanced features, these women are real women with their own struggles. I learn of their divorces and alcohol addiction and it intrigues me to better understand each of the housewives' characters.

I find myself laughing at moments when the housewives get so foolish and carried away with all the glitz-and-glam.  I love how the producers realizes this and takes full advantage by accentuating the absurdity of these women's actions. (When Camille dances wildly, much like a stripper or when Taylor tries, but fails, at being seductive while eating cotton candy.) Their absurdity gives me a good laugh and sometimes that's all I'm looking for in these shows.

That's a general overview of how I see the show. Perhaps I'll do a blog post talking about how I perceive each one of them.

One thing I dislike about the show is that sometimes the story line moves too slowly. I have to wait a few episodes for an issue to erupt. As a viewer, faster emotional eruptions equals more drama and of course who doesn't love drama (when its not happening to oneself).

Right now I'm still on Season 1 and so far Kyle Richards is my favorite one. We'll see what happens.

Final Verdict (for now) I'll give it 3.5 stars. Still can't compare to the Kardashian reality shows though in my opinion.

Shows I've Been Loving Lately: Modern Family

Modern Family has been turning into the "new" FRIENDs for me. Its funny, witty, sarcastic, and worthy-of-praise in every single way. As you can probably tell, I can't say enough good things about this show.

Modern Family is a sitcom about three "modern" families and by "modern" I mean "rather untraditional." You see there's the story of two gay couples with their newly adopted Asian baby, a sixty-something wealthy dude married to a strong-accented but hot thirty something, and the last family with a goofball father, high maintainance mother and three kids each as different as night and day. Yet with all these characters and family, the show somehow manages to seamlessly interwove the three storylines creating one awesome show. One thing you should know though, Modern Family humor is rather subtle so if you are not one to decipher character's unintentional humor lines then this may not be the show for you.

Nonetheless, I frikking love this show. Below are some pictures (just so you recognize it while you're surfing the channels) and some screencaps (just to prove to you how funny it is).

Feeling Down Because of SAT?

I've got something that can help.

... you're welcome...

SAT Blues

I'm back with a rather depressing update. Yup as the title mentioned, my SAT scores finally came out (after hours of me raping the refresh button). As soon as collegeboard.com website posted June 2 scores I let out a scream. Yeah, I was that nervous. BTW, the collegeboard website has crashed today. Haha serves them right. Sorry for being so mean I guess I just have SAT blues.

Anyways, I got 650 on SAT 2 Bio Molecular and 680 for Math 2. Now I must say that although these scores are not absolutely horrendous, they are just ... mediocre. Being the overachiever that I am a "mediocre" is synonymous with . Well actually the 680 for math level 2 is not bad but biology oh biology! I am in AP Biology so it hurts me like hell that my score is only 20 points "above average". My friend in the same class got 780

I still have to take two more subject tests: Chemistry and Physics. I must say no more 600s for me! I want a 700+ score next time although I know that I must work extremely hard. I'm sick of these 600s!

Okay guys sorry for the ranting so much. I just feel so blue at my incompetency. Sometimes it just kills me how some people can be so much smarter without even trying. Then I remember that life isn't fair. Sigh.

These tests are definitely kicky my ass.
I'm going to go chill out, watch some PLLs, and try to get over this SAT blue. :(
Promise to make next post a more cheerful one.

A Day (Not) Completely Wasted

So today I woke up at 11 AM (slept at 2 AM the day before), showered, ate breakfast, got on a bus then a BTS (Bangkok's skytrain) and headed off to go learn physics at this school. It took me about 1 hour to get there and cost me 60 baht. When I reached the school, I found out that the school was closed.

Ofcourse I was very frustrated with myself for not making sure that the school was open. How stupid. So I wasted 60 baht and 2 hours traveling. What did I do then? Walked around Siam Paragon trying to kill time and mooned over my stupidity.

But not all is lost. I found him --

my future husband. Hahaha jokes, jokes. Anyways, in case you didn't know, above is Steven Gerard, or a wax figure of him anyways. I happened to stop by at Maddame Tussaud's display and got a picture with Steven here. Now I must add that I am not the biggest fan of soccer but Steven Gerard is definitely my favorite player, also captain, of my favorite team Liverpool. He may not score the most goals but he definitely is a true team player and a devoted captain. Liverpool can always depend on him.
Twas an honor meeting him -- or a replication of him anyways.

Nail of the Day: Skinfood's Rosegold

Hey guys,
How are you all doing? Anyways here's a NOTD (Nail of the Day) post, a new blog post series I plan on doing.

The color on my nails is SkinFood's Pedicure Sparkle but I'm not sure what the name of this exact shade is though -- but I love it nonetheless. Its a sparkly rose gold polish that is elegant but also fun! What I love about it is that you can actually see the glitter chunks unlike many other dull looking metallic polishes. It applies smoothly and is opaque in just one quote. In fact, the glitter chunks show up much better in a coat.

The polish color in real life is actually a bit more rose gold than in this picture but you can see the actually glitter here! Love it.

A Cover of Christina Perri's A Thousand Years Coming Soon

Stay tuned...

Movie Review: Snow White and the Huntsman

Here's my review on the just-in-theatres movie: Snow White and the Huntsman.

Initially, I had no interest in watching this movie: Perhaps due to the fact that I am no fan of medieval movies packed with fighting scenes. I'd rather watch Avengers (I know shame on me for not having watched yet) but it was already out of theatres.
Well, well, well so we watched Snow White and the Huntsma and Sui Eng and mine's final verdict was...

...we should have watched something else.

I don't know how to describe it exactly. Sure it was sort of action-packed but the plot was nothing special, the lead actors and actress (Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth) were two which I did not care for (although props to Charlize Theron though. She was absolutely stunning.), the scenes were dark and leary, nothing fairy-tale-like or magical about that, and the ending was too predictable. Come on, who doesn't know the ending to Snow White.

Although the movie was not overly unbearable, I recommend you spend your money elsewhere.  In one word, the movie was boring despite the numerous fighting scenes and  it put me to sleep, like literally.

On a side note, as you know in the classic Snow White tale, the step-mother aka the Evil Queen/Bitch tries to kill Snow White because the magic mirror tells her that Snow White is much more beautiful than her. In the movie version, I did not find Snow White (Kristen Stewart)  in anyway more aesthetically pleasing than the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron). Damn, Charlize Theron is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

Pics to prove my point

Here's the queen in all her youthful glory.
Here's Snow White looking dirty and depressed. Note: she stays this way for about 95% of the movie.

SummerlyBubble's ratings for Snow White and the Huntsman (2012): 2.5/5

Day Out: Lunch at Piri-Piri, Siam Paragon

Phew what a day. I am now all tired and sore. Anyways, today my cousin, Sui Eng (its a Chinese name) and I went downtown Bangkok, watched a movie, ate lunch, and did some soft-core shopping.

Lunch at Piri-Piri:
We picked this restaraunt for no reason other than we both wanted to try eat somewhere we have never ate before. Piri-Piri is a Portuguese restaurant that serves burger-steak-fries-and-such (not sure if that has anything to do with it being a Portuguese restaurant).

Piri-Piri restaurant can be found, near iBerry (if I remember correctly) in the food-court floor of Paragon Shopping mall.
My cus(left) and I (right) taking turns doing our pig faces. :P

My cheeseburger (240 Baht) -- juicy and delish

I munched down a cheeseburger and it was certainly tasty; My cousin on the other hand did not very much enjoy her Piri-Piri chicken breast. It was dry and mediocre despite being the "highlighted meal" that shared the same name with the restaurant.

Overall, althought the food was certainly not bad, it certainly does not any deserve any praise. I'm sure I could have gotten a decent or even better meal (both taste-wise and price-wise) at other fast food chains like Burger King or Subway. Plus, the service there was pretty horrible but I still had to pay 10% service charge regardless. Boo.

Anyways, after lunch we went to watch Snow White (not the cartoon version). Check my next post for a review.

Summer Day Routine

Hey hey,
Just wanted to make a quick post about how I am spending my summer days.
-  wake up around 9 A.M.
- breakfast (whatever is in the kitchen)
- (re)watch Friends (yup the 90's sit-com) while eating
- study for chemistry (timed 1 hour)
- watch Friends!
-shower
- study some physics
- play Sims 3
- dinner
- watch some TV with sister
- random chillax time
- sleep :D

So that's basically it. I know kinda boring right. Haha but its okay. Will be going to Taiwan in less than a month! and getting a new laptop sometime this week! Hurray. Will update you later. Perhaps a blogpost about why I chose a PC over Mac laptop even though my parents offered to buy me a Mac Book Air.

SAT Subject Test: Things You Should Know + Test Day Procedures

Hey all,
Just wanted to make a quick post about SAT subject tests since I took it my first time today. I hard SAT 2 Math 2 and Bio M. I'm not going to write much about the actual tests themselves because other people aren't done with it but I just want to give you some test day advice. Wish I had known these before I actually took it.

  1. You get to choose which subject test you want to take first.
  2. You can basically choose the subject you want to take on the test day. It is not a big deal at all if you want to take a different subject test.
  3. You can only take up to 3 subject tests per day.
  4. Everyone that takes a subject test will sit in the same room, working on different subjects.
  5. For math, you can only use one calculator at a time.
  6. Don't forget to bring your passport (if you're from a different country than where you plan to take the test)
  7. PACE YOURSELF. I cannot say this enough.
  8. Bring a jacket. My test center was freezing cold.

And that's about all I can think of right now. I'm going to go chillax and play some Sims 3 now.

P.S. Math was easier than I expected but Bio was seriously hard as f---!.
Anyways hope some of the points above helped you.

Good luck!

Oh Pinterest, When Will Thou Send Me an Invite

If any of you guys can send me an invite, I'd really appreciate it. I've even give you a cyber hug in return. Been dying to get on that website. www.pinterest.com

Pretty Little Liars = Guilty LIttle Pleasure

Okay I have to admit, I watched the first couple episodes of Pretty Little Liars (will abbreviate as PLL from now on) and hated it.
Here's a list of reasons why:

  1. A secret stalker that wants to expose the girls' secret? What a Gossip Girl knock off.
  2. I wanted to like Emily. She's tall, gorgeous, and Asian. Yet, she had to be a lesbian. (no I'm not homophobic, I just was disappointed because I could no longer relate to her)
  3. The show was too dark and gloomy. When I sit in front of the TV (or computer, in my case), I don't want to watch a show that will create even more stress in my stress-proned life. I watch TV because I need senseless but entertaining drama that will help me for 40 minutes forget about real life.
  4. It didn't appeal to me. What is so enjoyable about 4 high school girls getting stalked by a freaky psychopath?
But,
its now officially summer break and I'm officially out of shows to watch. Plus, summer can be really boring so I need something to entertain myself.... So I gave PLL another shot and a few episodes later and verdict is...

I'M totally HOOKED.

I've found the character that I have the most in common with. Spencer -- her ambition, the pressure to be perfect, her amazing looks (jokes). I also like Hanna although I first thought she was just a brainless, blonde, fluff-head but I've grown to like her. She's caring and sweet.

But I still haven't found a guy character on PLL that I'm totally in love with yet. But Toby is pretty sweet -- and sometimes he's kinda hot in a totally creepy kinda way. Don't you think?

As of right now I'm only mid-season 1 so I have to do my best to catch up. Will update my thoughts on this guilty pleasure in future blog.

Pottermore Once More!

So today was a normal day in the typical day in my summer-vacay-life, woke up played some Sims 3 (FUN!), studied some sat 2 math, spent wayyy too much time on youtube, took a math 2 practice test (disappointed in my score) and ate dinner.

AFter dinner, I started freaking out (a bit. hah) about my SAT math score -- cus' I'm a nerd like that. But my lovely friends salvaged the day. I don't know how but W and V, those lovely friends, managed to video-call me just when my stress level reached its apex video and we just started talking about how its summer and we can be totally unproductive and get addicted to Pottermore once more. (BTW, my username is Chasergold153 so add me now!!)

So we just video-chatted while dueling on Pottermore and I totally forgot all about my melancholy future (in the hand of those College Board bastards!).

Cheers for wonderful friends :)

Little Sis, Me, and our Top Knots

Hope you all are having a fantastic day :)

Nailed It

Sometimes when I look down and see pretty shades on my nails, I just feel all happy inside. Don't ask me why that's just a weird habit I have. Anyways, here are some of my favorite shades I just picked up. These are all from the SkinFood Milk Cream Nails collection. Totally love all the shades they have.
My favorite one would have to be the coral/pink one although it is actually more coral in person. As for application, these glide on your nails really smoothly and dry up real nice. However, I did have a problem with the pale pink one though. I don't know why but even after the polish dries my nails can still be messed up. So yeah that can be a little frustrating but other than that absolutely loving these beautiful polishes. When I put on these polishes, I feel so grown up, calmed, and polished.

Summer is here! Rejoice! + Summer Plans

Summer is finally here! *queue celebratory dance music* WOOT WOOT I've waited so incredibly long for this day. A day when I am a free person, from academic obligations, once more. Its been such a long time since I've had my last break. (Well not really because of Songkran but it doesn't really count since I was studying madly for AP Bio).

For the past month or so, I've been busier than I have ever been my entire life. I had student council elections (which I won presidency. oh yah), banquet, fight with friends, the oh-so-horrible AP exams, and final exams. All these events were just exhausted me both mentally and physically. I barely had any free time to read, sing, or update my blog. But no worries friends, this summer I plan to blog as much as possible.

 Plans & Goals for summer:

  •  -study for the damn SAT subject test in Biology and Math II
  •  -take the damn SAT subject test -go on my last ever SALT trip with my awesomest classmates [ICS 2013 <3]
  • -read as much as possible [to improve both my Thai and English]
  • -study for physics and chemistry. You don't have to gag. Its for my future.
  •  - go to TAIWAN with my friends [V,L,M]! no parents :]
  •  - get new laptop
  • - film my first singing video

  • - learn to edit said video
  • - blog as much as possible
  •  - make up with my dad :( and end our stupid fight.

 - enjoy my last summer as a kid

 That's it for now.
